Flâneur

A panel from Flâneur' issue 3 (2007).

Hermann Flâneur is a chap who wanders the streets of Melbourne, reads books and sees films and drinks coffee and dreams.

I've been chronicling his adventures for a few years now, in little 'picture story pamphlets' called 'Flâneur'. His antics are also displayed in assorted comics stories of one, two and four pages in length.

The last panels from 'Flâneur' issue 2, in which Hermann Flâneur and his mate J.B repair to the café Journal after watching 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (2004).

The introductions to the issues of 'Flâneur' are written by Hermann's old acquaintance Dick Fung, better known for his translation of Claude Derriere's magisterial 'From Puff to Fillo: Literary Criticism and the New New Cuisine'.
